About Picture Human Rights
At Picture Human Rights we do two things:
Make human rights and rights-related issues more accessible, relevant and fun by explaining them through illustration.
Connect human rights organisations and activists who need artwork to artists.
We work with talented artists from all over the world. If you’ve got a concept you want explained through illustration or a non-conceptual art-related need, write to us - let’s talk!
(If you want to know more about the human rights concepts through illustration aspect, this article “Let’s talk about tax, baby” in the Alternative Law Journal explains what we are trying to do. It requires a subscription for access but feel free to email us if you’d like a copy for personal use.)
about The People
Ria Singh Sawhney
Always late but worth the wait
Ria is an Indian lawyer who likes the beach in winter, loves kombucha, and hates golf. Ria can sketch anything (badly) from reclining cats to slow-motion gyrating performance artists. She obsesses over how intersectional her work is, how to overthrow the tyranny of the algorithm, and locating resilience in activism.
Anna Bulman
Too excited about fermented food
Anna is an Australian lawyer who likes a bloody mary, loves games, and hates wet socks. Anna dabbles in oil painting and graphic illustration. Her inner geek lights up to food systems, alternative economic theories, and community-led advocacy.
